DISCIPLE I will begin in September and meet on Monday evenings, at 7:00 p.m. It is led by Pastor Justin Williams.
DISCIPLE is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong
Christian faith and leadership. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal
time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. DISCIPLE
draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the
participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible.
DISCIPLE 1: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY, is a thirty-four week
overview of the entire Bible. It requires at home reading and preparation prior
to the weekly group gatherings.
Each member of the group needs a study manual and a Bible. The Bible is the text
for the study and the study manual will guide group members in their study and
preparation for the weekly group session. The study manual also includes
suggestions for individual research and study-related activities. Space is
provided for taking notes while reading Scripture, for recording thoughts and
questions arising out of daily study, and for notes during the weekly group
session. The titles of the sessions along with theme words and theme verses, and
major persons, events, and topics will set the sequence of the biblical story in
the minds of the participants. The principle Scripture for each session follows
the chronological movement of the biblical story. The cost for the study manual
is $33, which does not have to be paid all at once.
The Disciple 1 class will start in September, and Pastor Justin Williams will be
teaching the Disciple 1 Class. The current plan is to have the study on Monday
evenings from 6pm-8pm. However, once everyone signs up for the class, we can
pick another day and time that would work better for the group. This is a great
class for getting a great overview of the Bible! If you have any questions or
would like to participate in the class please see Pastor Williams.
JESUS IN THE GOSPELS will start in September, and Gina Hall & Ralph Adams will be teaching the Class. This class will meet on Monday evenings, starting September 12, from 7pm-9pm., and will need at least eight people to form the class. If you have any questions or would like to participate in the class please see Gina Hall or Ralph Adams.
JESUS IN THE GOSPELS invites believers to look at Jesus in each of the four Gospels and ask the question, "Who is the Jesus that you see?" This study will deepen discipleship through better understanding of the biblical texts and their message.
Two questions frame this study: "Who is the Jesus you bring with you to this study?" and "Who is the Jesus you take with you from this study?" JESUS IN THE GOSPELS takes participants on a journey from one question to the other and focuses on the portraits of Jesus found in the four Gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The word in used in the title signals that this study takes an approach different from the familiar "life and teaching of Jesus" approach of reading stories and accounts of what Jesus said and did in order to draw conclusions about their meaning and about who Jesus was. This study looks at the way each Gospel writer presents events and teachings and at the picture of Jesus that emerges in each of the Gospels. In the course of the thirty weeks, participants will read the four Gospels and considerable amounts of Scripture from other parts of the Bible, and from the JESUS IN THE GOSPELS study manual.
What is Disciple? It is a Bible Study aimed at transformation - not just information. It is a commitment of three to four hours a week of independent study and preparation, plus two and one-half hours each week for up to thirty-four weeks in weekly group meetings. Through Disciple Bible Study you will grow in spirit and in discipline while forming strong bonds of Christian fellowship with your fellow students.
